A bamboo whisk, or chasen, is essential to the matcha experience. This bamboo matcha whisk is made from light bamboo, ideal for both usucha (thin matcha) and koicha (thick matcha). It has been used for centuries in traditional tea ceremony. Our whisk is hand made buy cutting the bamboo into 80 fine prongs.

We recommend that you soak your bamboo whisk in a cup of warm water before each use - this softens the whisk and prolongs its life. After the use, rinse the whisk and let the it air dry.

While you can use other tools to make your matcha - electric hand mixer or a frother - traditional bamboo whisk has shown to produce the creamiest texture in matcha.
